Neville Goddard’s SATS (State Akin To Sleep) technique is in one of the best manifestation methods out there. In this article, I will address the question: How often should you do SATS to get the best results?
In general, the more often you do SATS and the better each session, the bigger the change you make on the subconscious. Neville also advised doing SATS every night before bed for optimal results.
If you’re new to this method, or don’t know what it is, I highly recommend you read my complete guide on how to use SATS for manifesting your desires.
Why Repetition Matters?
Think of a SATS session as an exercise you to strengthen a particular idea in your subconscious. Sure, a single SATS session can work for small goals, but for big, life-changing ones, you’ll likely need more than one session. The bigger your goal, the more ”change-work” you’ll have to do within. If your dream is something far beyond anything you’re used to a single session likely won’t cut it.
So, what do I mean by “change-work”? Take manifesting money as an example. Your inner subconscious state needs to shift from “I’m poor” to “I’m rich,” and SATS is a way to do that.
If getting rich feels like a stretch, you probably have some negative beliefs about money. Thoughts like “Money is hard to get” or “I can’t change” can keep you stuck in a “poor” mindset.
To break free, you’ll need to do SATS regularly. You can’t be “poor” and “rich” at the same time. The strongest if the two ideas will overpower the other one. Consistent SATS sessions will help you uproot the negative state, and gradually move you into a “rich” state of consciousness, which then manifests itself correspondingly in your reality.
So, SATS helps you shift your inner state. If you’re stuck in your current state, keep doing SATS repeatedly and consistently.
How Often Should You Repeat SATS?
Neville Goddard advised practicing SATS daily, right before sleep. The general guideline is simple: the more frequently you do SATS, and the most optimal each session, the more effective it becomes.
Quality Over Quantity
While repetition and consistency is important, the quality of each session shouldn’t be overlooked. Mere repetition without doing the method properly is useless. If you repeat an affirmation a thousand times a day it won’t have any impact if it doesn’t penetrate into your subconscious.
In the same manner, it won’t matter how many times or for how long you do SATS if you don’t do it properly. Again, I talk more about how I do SATS in this article.
SATS Session Length
I find that a SATS sessions typically last between as little as a few minutes and upwards. Contrary to what you might think, you can definitely manifest by doing relatively short sessions of whatever manifestation technique you may use. Just remember this: the objective is to impress your desire on the subconscious. This is what gets the results. Sometimes I find that long sessions will make bigger changes, so that’s definitely something you’ll want to experiment with.
I usually do SATS between 5 to 30 minutes (and sometimes longer than that). This may just be personal preference, but this works for me. I encourage you to experiment with this yourself, and find what works for you.
Best time to do SATS
Although Neville primarily recommended SATS before sleep, some find success doing it early in the morning or throughout the day.
The benefit of doing it at night is not only that your mind is more receptive to suggestion, but also that you will take the “feeling of your wish” fulfilled, as Neville called it, with you into sleep. For some reason, doing SATS while drifting off into sleep, or shortly before that, seems to be extra powerful.
In summary, practice SATS at least once or twice daily for best results, and consider incorporating longer sessions when possible. For best results, do a SATS session just before bed as this seems to engrain the idea deeper into the subconscious.
